We all know that if Bill Ritter is elected governor of Colorado, he will restrict the rights of gun owners everywhere based on his record of opposing gun rights legislation and the 'F' he received from both the NRA and CSSA. Now, we also know that he is a liar when discussing gun control. He is a flip-flopper who opposed it before supporting it, only because he's running for governor and wants to appease gun owners. His statements are designed to confuse and fool voters into believing he supports gun rights. He needs to be called out for his contradictory statements. Just recently, when asked if he supported the Right-to-Carry law, he said yes. This is an outright lie. Bill Ritter has a long history of opposing concealed carry bills and testifying against these bills before the Colorado Legislature. He also stated that he supports Colorado's 'Make My Day' law. However, he forgets to say that he testified against strengthening the 'Make My Day' law and said the law 'takes reasonableness out of the equation.' Finally, in 2006, at a campaign stop in Craig, Colorado, when asked about his position on gun control, Bill Ritter said that he had been a hunter and gun owner since childhood and owned a gun for protection while he was district attorney. But, in a 1998 Denver Post article, Bill Ritter, as Denver's District Attorney, wrote an article where he commented that he did not own guns. It is clear Bill Ritter is pandering to gain votes hoping that voters will forget his past record and statements opposing gun rights. We all know what his record was before he decided to run for governor. Now, he wants us to believe he owned guns and supports gun rights. Bill Ritter cannot escape his record of support for gun control. One thing is for sure; if elected governor, he will take away gun rights. As one State Senator who has heard Bill Ritter testify against your rights said, ‘If Bill Ritter wins we might as well cover our guns with concrete.' Now is the time to stop Bill Ritter. Tell your friends about him and set the record straight; Ritter loves gun control. Dave Gill Vice President Colorado State Shooting Association vice_president@cssa.org
